I can’t get my head in the game today. The office is relatively quiet and I’m coming up on a 5 day weekend with the family . So I’m 1/3 working, 1/3 Oppoing, and 1/3 watching “ Liquid Science” feat. the GZA. T he kitchen was just refreshed so I’m grubbing a few carrots with red pep hummus and washing it down with my usual copious amounts of seltzer and espresso/coffee. What ya got?

Thanks, though sometimes it’s literally something thrown together.
BBQ pulled pork and chips, chicken tikka kebab on steamed rice or a Chinese-ish stir-fry with steamed rice.

Just a turkey sandwich, but for reasons the doggos are home alone today, so I came home for lunch to eat on the back porch while they get a chance to go out and do doggie things in the backyard for awhile.

Part of my job involves helping out the catering people with their technology, and they always offer me free food when I do. But today I wasn’t hungry so all I could really accept was a slice of pepperoni.
Mostly I just would rather never eat lunch. Sure, I like the break but I’d rather go biking or run errands or take a walk or a nap, forget lunch.
How’s the kid?

I rarely get lunch for the same reasons, or I go home for lunch with the family. She’s great! Eating, sleeping, poopin, cracking smiles here and there. Life is good.

Nah not the tastiest lunch. I’m a piece of fruit for breakfast, handful of whatever for lunch, something post workout, and an actual meal for dinner type of guy.

Stressed out, or been to the dentist or something? I usually have to force myself to eat during the day then I eat a big dinner “Major Payne” style after a run.

Those all look simple and tasty. I think I get put off cooking because I try to make things too fancy when really I just need to make one thing tasty, put it on rice, and it’ll be extra tasty.

It’s basically start simple, then see what you can add to or remove from it to make it better suit your taste , then try it with more elaborate stuff.
Yes, it’d be nice and easy to lap a burger in between a bun and eat it, but add seas oning to the burger, add extras such as pickled gherkins, sauce, pepperoni, bacon, pulled pork, cheese, etc... and any combination of the above and you’ll have a more flavourful burger.

I decided to make my Canada Day into a Canada week just because I had some vacation time.
It has turned out to be a good idea because I’m going through one of my existential crises (e.g. “Who am I? Where am I going?”) but it turned out I was just hungry.
I went for a breakfast/lunch around 11:30AM, saw the last bit of the Switzerland/Sweden world cup match; meal was eggs benedict, but instead of an english muffin it used a bagel from a locally-known bagelshop, and in addition to the ham they put on avocado, tomato, and cheddar cheese with a chipotle hollandaise. It was fucking delicious.
It turns out the answer to, “Who am I? Where am I going?” is the following: I am a very full man who’s going home to lie down and enjoy his time off.

I’d be the inverse if I took the time every morning. I love days with a b ig, late breakfast, small afternoon lunch, and foraging a bit for supper.

I meant that I normally try to do too much, like making sides to eat as well when I’d be fine with just the meat and rice.
I don’t really like making burgers at home because I need to prep a whole bunch of other stuff. I really don’t like having just the burger in a bun, although with the right burger and bun it may be palatable.

Ye’, when it comes to sides, I like to keep it quite simple unless I’ve the time to try something, then make something else if it doesn’t go how I want it.
I’ll try and keep it to two sides most but if I’m doing a curry, I’ll find I don’t want to leave something out as they taste too good.
Curry (tikka, tandoori masala, dopiaza, jalfreza, madras, rogan jo sh, etc...) and naan are good, but then you think Bombay potatoes, then saag aloo, then pakoras-which ones? So you think all of them. Before you know it your looking at three plates at least, then it’s where do you start? Aaaarrrgghhh!!!!!!

Nice. Seriously though, I really need to get myself moving 10 minutes earlier on work days to make myself an over-easy egg, a toasted English muffin, some grape tomatoes & a glass of orange juice in the morning.

While I was training for the broad street run I was making “overnight oats”. Oats, chia seeds, protein powder, and fruit (I usually went blueberries). Add almond milk, mix it all up in a mason jar and stick it in the fridge overnight.
I don’t know why I stopped, it’s easy and good.
